Meralco Bolts (8-3) survive Terrafirma Dyip (2-9), 109-102 to secure their 8th win and stay alive in hunt for a twice-to-beat bonus in the quarterfinals of the 2023-24 PBA Commissioner's Cup on Friday, January 12, 2024, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Shonn Miller led the Bolts in scoring with a double-double of 29 points, 21 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals. Bong Quinto had a solid game of 20 points (7/14FG, 2/5 3pts, 4/5ft), along with 5 rebounds, and 9 assists while Allein Maliksi added 15 points (3/7 3pts), 1 rebound and 2 assists.
Meralco awaits the outcome of tomorrow's game, January 13, between Ginebra and NLEX in Legazpi City. If Ginebra wins against NLEX, the Bolts will be out of the Top 4, and Ginebra will secure the twice-to-beat advantage. However, if NLEX beats Ginebra, the Bolts will secure the twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals.
"It's tough to realize now that we have to wait for Ginebra and what happens there (game against NLEX), It is what it is. We just have to move forward. It was in our hands against Phoenix, we didn't win that game. But I like where we are," said coach Luigi Trillo during the post-game press conference.
