The 6-foot-7 forward Mason Amos shines on Gilas Pilipinas Men debut against Lebanon. Gilas defeated the Cedars, 107-96 on Friday, February 24 at the Philippine Arena in the sixth window of the FIBA World Cup 2023 Asian Qualifiers.
The 18-year-old Amos, incoming Ateneo Blue Eagles freshman, finished with 13 points on perfect 5-of-5 shooting from the field including 3-of-3 from beyond the arc with two rebounds in 8 minutes of play.
“I wasn’t expecting to play for the men’s team before I would be able to suit up for Ateneo. It’s a blessing. I never thought I would be able to suit up this early.” said Amos.
In the FIBA U18 Asian Championship in August of last year, the former star player for Gilas Pilipinas Youth finished second in scoring with an average of 21.2 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists.
