Philippines' representative Zamboanga Valientes (3-2) defeated the winless Cooly Bangkok Tigers (0-5), 118-73 to grab their third win in the 2023 ABL Invitational (Leg 2) on Thursday, January 12 at the Hi-Test Arena in Batam, Indonesia.
Former PBA import Antonio Hester led the Valientes with a double-double of 26 points (10/18fg, 1/2 3pts, 5/9ft), along with 12 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and a block. Ryan Joseph Smith with a solid game of 17 points, 24 rebounds, 1 assist and 3 blocks.
Veteran guard Rudy Lingganay with a near-perfect game of 20 points (7/8fg, 6/7 3pts), 1 rebound, 5 assist and a steal while former San Beda Red Lion James Kwekuteye added 20 points on 8-of-18 shooting including four 3-pointers to go with 5 rebounds, 2 assists and a block. Former Jose Rizal University (JRU) cager John Amores finished with 10 points (4/7fg, 2/2 3pts), 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals in 14 minutes of play.
The Valientes will face the NS Matrix of Malaysia on January 14.
