Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) superstar Georges St.-Pierre will be in Manila on September 23 for a meet-and-greet event with local mixed martial arts (MMA) fans, according to Balls Channel.

St.-Pierre, the reigning UFC welterweight champion, will be in the country up to September 25 to promote MMA.

His 3-day visit will culminate with an open training at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City.

The 29-year-old Canadian has an MMA record of 20 wins with only 2 losses. He is due to defend his belt for the 5th time versus Josh Koscheck on Dec. 11’s UFC 124.

St.-Pierre, who is known for his monikers “GSP” and “Rush,” is known for his well-rounded game. He dominated the welterweight division by sweeping his last 7 fights against topnotch opponents, including fellow future Hall of Famers Matt Hughes and BJ Penn.

Balls Channel earlier brought MMA legend Chuck Liddell and Fil-Am light heavyweight Brandon Vera to Manila to bring UFC closer to local fans.

GSP! GSP! Maybe UFC or the MMA are not that mainstream sports program here in our country. Thats why im the first one to comment here : ) But GSP visiting us is really a big step to make this game popular to filipinos. And we are honored to have someone like GSP visits us. He's one of the greatest welterweight in the UFC. I hope that GSP and MANNY PACQUIAO will meet it would be great!

If Manny and george meet it would be great but not the ring or octagon. Manny will help boxing to be on top again and GSP will do the same thing for UFC. Both of them are real great athletes.
Legion in Boxing and Legion in UFC...

Boxing is way too different from mixed martial arts. Fight between Couture & Toney proves everything. Manny is the best in his career & if he's planning to enter this kind of extreme sport... think twice! He'll just have to learn jujitsu & survive takedowns...
