Two-time champion Cebu's batters finally found their old form to eke out a 10-9 win over Manila to level the Dunkin Donuts-Baseball Philippines Series VI title match on Saturday at the Felino Marcelino Memorial Stadium in Taguig City.
The Dolphins, capitalizing on the Sharks' errors, rallied from a 0-3 deficit after two innings and survived losing a 7-4 lead to force a winner-take-all match next week.
Fulgencio Rances singled in the ninth for his third hit in the game while Joseph Orillana and Jonash Ponce walked to load up the bases.
Jonard Pareja whacked one at deep right field and Christian Galedo was headed for an easy catch to end the game when he was accidentally bumped by teammate Saxon Omandac.
That error caused the Sharks two runs with Orillana and Ponce crossing homeplate to give the Dolphins a 10-7 cushion.
The Sharks, who opened the series with a 5-3 win, threatened to steal the game as Jon Jon Robles and Galedo, who boarded the bases on a single and a double, scored on back-to-back sacrifice fly's by Romy Bumagat and Jenald Pareja.
Orillana, who pitched for seven innings and with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, gave up consecutive hits with Francis Candela representing the tying run on second.
But the lefty veteran pitcher didn't lose his poise and struck out NiƱo Tator to end the match. - JVP, GMANews.TV
