Williams, Reyes face former team as Texters battle Realtors

With Kelly Williams and Ryan Reyes still in a Sta. Lucia uniform, Talk ‘N Text went on to crush the Realtors, 102-89, the first time the two teams faced off in the PBA Fiesta Cup.

Imagine the scenario now that both Williams and Reyes are suiting up for the Tropang Texters when they collide anew with the Realtors Sunday night at the Araneta Coliseum.

The encounter, which serves as the main game of another Big Dome doubleheader, marks the third time Williams and Reyes will be playing for their new team since being involved in the biggest trade of the season a week ago.

The Tropang Texters have gone 2-0 since acquiring the two former Sta. Lucia franchise players, bringing to seven straight their winning streak and an 8-2 overall record for solo second behind league-leader San Miguel.

Williams, incidentally, scored 20 points for the Realtors in that 13-point blowout loss against Talk ‘N Text last April 11.

But Sta. Lucia coach Boyet Fernandez believes his Realtors have a chance of pulling an upset even when ranged against a team that boasts of a lot of firepower.

“We had a good week of practice. We just have to make it a point to stop or contain our men one-on-one, stop TNT’s fast-breaks and battle them on the boards. TNT’s a formidable team but if we just play defense we have a good chance," said Fernandez, who still hopes of landing a quarterfinals spot in the import-laden meet once the Realtors beat the Tropang Texters.

Sta. Lucia carries a 4-6 card and lost its first game following the trade of Williams and Reyes, bowing to Barangay Ginebra, 102-85.

Talking about beating the Tropang Texters on paper is easier said than done, however, as even the league’s no.1 defensive ballclub in Derby Ace proved to be no match to Talk `N Text’s offensive prowess, losing 114-89 only last Wednesday.

“We are not even thinking of the streak," said Talk `N Text coach Chot Reyes. “We’re focusing only on what we need to do to win."

Following that 25-point loss to Talk `N Text, Derby Ace tries to rebuild its shattered pride as it takes on skidding Coca-Cola in the 4 p.m. opener.

The Llamados will be gunning for their seventh win in 11 outings as they look forward to stretching the Tigers’ (4-7) woes. Coca-Cola is on a six game skid after a 3-0 start.

“Our defense betrayed us against TNT," said Ryan Gregorio of the Llamados’ sorry rout at the hands of the Tropang Texters.

Hopefully we can regain our toughness against Coke and get back on the winning track. Coke is always dangerous. They have the personnel to compete against the best. (Rashad) Bell is one of the better imports so he must be contained. (Gary) David is the best local scorer and Asi (Taulava) remains a potent threat. Our goal is to remain in the top 5." – GMANews.TV

At bakit sila dapat karmahin in the first place? It's not their fault kelly and ryan are with them. Besides, Sta lucia agreed to give them away.
