Robert Non, Barangay Ginebra’s alternate governor to the PBA board, wants future walkouts to be treated more severely by the Commissioner’s Office, recommending no less than a whopping P10 million fine to start the ball-and-chain rolling.
“Half a million pesos is too small at today’s rates. Iba ang scenario noon,” said Non by phone from his office Tuesday afternoon.
Non was referring to Anejo Rum under playing-coach Robert Jaworski back in 1990.
The 65ers were fined P500,000 – an astronomical amount then – after walking out in the second quarter of Game 6 of the First Conference Finals and forfeiting the championship in favor of Shell Rimula-X, 4-2.
Asked to react to reports that Anejo Rum was already a subsidiary of San Miguel Corporation in 1990, Non said: “E hindi pa naman San Miguel ang nasusunod noong mga panahon na ‘yon. Di dapat sana walang walkout.”
Non said the league governors have requested copies of the PBA rules for immediate review.
“We have to revisit and strengthen the rules, especially on walkouts. Kailangan
maging deterrent talaga yung sanctions dahil you’re depriving fans who had paid hard-earned money to watch the game,” he said.
Non stressed he isn’t putting any kind of pressure on PBA Commissioner
Sonny Barrios.
“Suggestion lang naman ‘yon. Di naman cast in stone,” he said. “It’s up to the commissioner naman whatever revisions he thinks are appropriate for these times.
Non also made it clear he “isn’t zeroing in” on Talk ‘N Text, which walked out of Game 4 of its KFC-PBA Philippine Cup quarterfinal series with Barangay Ginebra last Friday and was fined more than P1 million.
“This isn’t about what happened. I’m just looking ahead, kung baga,” he said. “This isn’t about them.”

I think u have to revisit and strengthen the rules, especially on dirty players and coaches ..players who beat fans who had paid hard-earned money to watch the game..like Ranidel de Ocampo and Caguiao and many more who got away with it bec the PBA turned a blind eye on them>>P10-million fine for walkouts is rediculous and not a prudent thing to say ..why not just tell them not to join the league....how much revenue was generated during the powerade and gilas match for Ondoy victims?madami nanood eh wala pa kahit sa kalahati at kalahati nang 10 million wala!!P10-million fine ..very silly!!!hindi bale sana kung yung 10 million ibibigay doon sa fans...sa PBA rin mapupunta all the fans will get is just a refund of the tickets...TICKET lang ..so PLs lang to any PBA governor don't use the "FAN " word to mislead the PUBLIC!!!!
half a million is enough,, 1 million is fair.. but 10 million is too much!
PBA must check the system its pretty obvious SMC is what PBA wanted to be in the semis and finals why?? because of MONEY business e, we the fans wanted a league that is not bias check the salary cap check everything isnt it obvious?????
please change your system i am also a san miguel beer fan but thing is if its sister teams in the finals definetly it will be till game 7 without any doubt but if its another corp against another it will be till game 5 or 6 where is the compitition???
dami namang hindi nagiisip dito, kaya nga fine e. dapat lang talaga mataas ang fine, tama yung 5 to 10 million. hindi ka naman magbabayad kung hindi mo gagawin e. the fine has to be outrageous to deter teams from walking out. kung 10 million yan wala ng magwalk out and thats what the huge fine is for. para magdalawang isip mga teams bago mag walk out. thats what robert non is trying to say.
Remember the TIME when...
Meron lang 6 PBA Teams.
Gawin nila exag ang RULES.
For SURE SMC teams na lang matitira dyan.

Mga TSONG SUPPORTAHAN natin ang

Finals na! PILIPINAS vs INDONESIA!
Akalain mo natanggalan ng SINGAPORE SLINGERS! :P
.right!?
ALASKA team against the 3 Lions...ALL the way...
10 M is toooooooooo much...
one of the most sickest thing to suggest!! its over ruled!
Tama ka dude. Kaya nga tinawag na fine to discourage teams in doing walkouts.
no biking on walkways, $1000 na agad..
Ano ba yan takutan para walang mag protesta outside the board?
I'm all for it!
U can't compare Singapore from the PBA ..the fine in singapore goes to the people of Singapore while the fine in the PBA goes only to the PBA not to the FANs of the PBA ..if it goes to the Fans of the PBA then I would agree to a hefty fines eventhough its biased officiating or players hurting each other I don't care as long as they don't walkout of the game..
I don't think it's a question of where the money goes to. Instead, we should look at the reasons why these fines are in place. Having a fine that amounts to something that can be shouldered by anybody will not deter other teams from walking-out of a game. The fine will not serve it's purpose kaya kailangan gawing exhorbitant ang amount para mag dalawang isip ang coach ng isang koponan bago mag walk-out! I don't even care kung saan mapupunta yung pera basta nakikita ko na hindi pinababayaan ng PBA ang mga fans! Because at the end of the day, fans pa rin ang mag su-suffer, hindi ang mga milyonaryong coaches and players!
Gets?
Dapat when PBA (players, coaches, managers, etc) hurts a Fan, dapat may Fine na 10 Million din. Regardless kung anung pang-aasar ang ginawa nya, FAN sya eh, he/she favors one team.
If PBA really cares about the FANS
(or viewing public).
THE BIGGER THE FINE THE BETTER..
Assuming If the referee didn't call a flagrant foul on Player A and he keeps on hurting the Gilas players not to mention other teammates does it too bec the coach ordered it and on top of that the officials just sat there and do nothing..,should the Gilas team not walkout for safety reasons? once they walkout is it bec they r not discipline enough ? it is not about discipline ..its about the reason that provoked the walkout that should have been addressed...this question should not have been asked by the reporter to Robert Non and should instead been asked to other Governor like that of alaska, Rain or Shine ,,
10 million is too much for that.
The Bigger the Fine the more Stupendous PBA is.
And the Bigger the Fine the more BIAS PBA is, in FAVOR of SMC.
Its no longer about giving the FANS truthful and heartfelt passionate Basketball.
