The deal for the much-anticipated megabout between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather, Jr is yet to be finalized but the "trash talks" have already commenced – at least from the Mayweather camp.

Reacting to reports that Pacquiao has agreed in principle to fight his son on March 13, outspoken trainer Floyd Mayweather, Sr. quickly got on the offensive and declared such decision blunder by the Filipino superstar.

“I do feel that Pacquiao is making a mistake going up against my son," the elder Mayweather said in an interview with Examiner.Com.

The forthright trainer reiterated that Junior would simply toy with the Pacman, whom his son has earlier described as one-dimensional.

“Floyd is the most technical fighter out there," Mayweather Sr. offered. “He’ll control the fight easily with his ring generalship. I don’t see anything that Pacquiao can bring for him. If Floyd stays away from that left, it will be easy work."

Senior has been at it against Pacquiao since he worked the corner of former IBO light-welterweight champion Ricky Hatton. Pacquiao knocked out his ward in two rounds but that did not stop Mayweather Sr. from downplaying the Pacman’s skills to the point of accusing him of taking performance-enhancing substances to boost his ascent in weight.

Pacquiao has denied such allegations and backed up his position by testing negative for steroids and other illegal substances in tests in his last fight with Miguel Cotto and all previous gigs.

Still, Mayweather Sr. is adamant on the dope thing.

“I’m going to tell you what you really want to know, which is my personal opinion. Of course I think something shady is going on behind the scenes. A guy just can’t rise like that in weight class and punch the way he does. I feel he needs to be checked out before the next fight," he told Examiner.Com.

But dope or no dope, Senior boasted that Pacquiao really has no shot against his boy.

“Manny Pacquiao shouldn’t have signed the fight. He isn’t going to beat Floyd Mayweather Jr. In no shape or form can he possibly beat my son," he said.

Pacquiao, though, appears ready to take Mayweather’s tirades in stride, knowing "trash talks" are part of their tactics.

“Pagkakaiba ni Floyd Mayweather sa ibang nakalaban ko is si Floyd, marami siyang thrash talk na di dapat gayahin ng mga bata," Pacquiao earlier said when he announced his decision to accept the proposal on GMA’s 24 Oras.

And of course, his equally outspoken trainer Freddie Roach will always be there to take the cudgels in so far as throwing verbal jabs against the opposition is concerned.
