Jojo Duncil and rookie Bryan Faundo each had 16 points for the Energy Boosters. Benedict Fernandez contributed 14 while Ogie Menr and Chad Alonzo chipped in 12 and 10 points respectively for coach Leo Isaac.
Dylan Ababou paced the Nationals with 19 points. The 6’11 Sampson, who replaced CJ Giles as the candidate to be the team’s naturalized player, was held down to just 4 markers in his first game with Smart Gilas.

Is Jamal injured? Smart Gilas should start looking for a replacement if that is the case. Nice game barako bulls, you showed that you are faster and smarter. Gilas improved in their defense compared to the game with alaska, and good game from Ababou, Ballesteros and Slauther. Slauther should develop a hook shot (sky hook) please teach him the mechanics of this shot.

I stopped watching the game last night, di pa dumidikit si Sampson sa player naka pito na referee eh, dalawa na sunod na pito first quarter and second dalawang sunod uli, seconds lang ang pagitan eh. Halata naman na preempted ang tawag ng mga refs. They would have played better with Sampson in the game. But Toroman should have a plan to play all Filipino in cases like this. Slaughter should be given more exposure he's the only Legitimate bigman other than Sampson, Aguilar plays small for his height, still it's a plus. Maabot lang nya ang level ng laro ni Dudung Polistico malaki na pakinabang niya sa team. Kulang talaga ang Gilas ng Forward or Big guard who can finish strong and create his shot when the game is on the line. Barroca, Casio and Tiu can penetrate but they are too small to finish strong and they have to dish out most of the time when they drive to the basket. Ballesteros is a revelation.Ababou and Cawaling can score but they don't have enough impact in the positions they play especially on defense. Sana someone like a Tony Dela Cruz or Arwind Santos, wala na kayang pag-asang makakuha ng quality players ang Gilas?

Wala namang duda this team with Sampson in tow is a very strong and competitive team. It's not fair to guage their strength with Barako Bull na wala namang class na team. In a good night, kayang talunin ng Gilas even San Miguel without an import.
Jamal is damaged goods, he complained of back pains during his interview, and his records in the nba shows that he is always in the injury list. How can smart gilas depend on an import like him. In Fiba games where the format is knockout system, every player is expected to be at 100% every game. A back-up import is necessary if we are to produce result.
Slaughter should have played more minutes.

I'm a fan of basketball in general especially San Miguel. Smart Gilas can be competitive given more exposure and they can be better than any PBA team. Yung fans lang ng Gilas or PBA who defend or reason out for those organizations mga walang pinag-aralan mga yun gaya nun nag comment.
