Barangay Ginebra and Talk n Text square off today at the Araneta Coliseum with both teams looking to stay within striking distance of pacesetting Alaska Milk nearing the halfway mark of the KFC PBA Philippine Cup double-round elimination phase.

The Kings and the Tropang Texters mix it up in the 7:30 p.m. main game of a twinbill that also pits tail-enders Coca-Cola and Rain or Shine at 5 p.m.

Both the Tigers and the Elasto Painters have only one win to show each with the first round of the elims already about to end.

Alaska is assured of a top finish in the first round with an 8-1 win-loss card which the Aces capped with a 101-87 rout of the Purefoods Giants Sunday at the Big Dome.

Ginebra, the Fiesta Conference runner-up, can wind up a game behind at 7-2 if the Kings sweep their last two games against the Tropang Texters and the Coca-Cola Tigers.

Ginebra coach Jong Uichico, however, said it’s not an easy task. He’s specially wary of the Tropang Texters, a team he considers among the toughest in the field.

“They have so much depth and firepower. We need to be able to sustain all we have for 48 minutes,” said Uichico.
